The Musical Mart MMBG-L-03 Two piece bongo drum – brown is a percussion instrument. It has two drums attached to each other. They are also known as membranophones and these instruments to create sound though vibration. This is done by hitting the stretched membrane repeadtly.

Bongo drums  are known to produce high-pitched like the conga drums. These drums are held behind the knees. The larger one of the drum is kept on the right for right-handed people. It is mostly played by hand.

It weighs around 1.3 kg is brown in color and the entire product size is 31.2 x20.3 x 12.7 cms. It is sold by the Musical mart brand.

Bongos are and African Cuban percussion instrument which are made of a pair of small open bottomed drums.  Most commonly used in Cuba and the attached drums are also a creation of the Cubans. The bongo soon became the most popular instrument that was played.

Bongo drums give off a high pitched sound and they are held at the knees, the larger drum is kept on the right for right handed users. Played by hand it is associated with Cuban music or eight notes /martillo/ostinato/hammer. Played with fingers and palm, it is either played on a stand or in concerts with bands and orchestra.

Some interesting facts about the bongo drums - their head sizes from 5 to 8 inches. Bongo drums have to be maintained with special oils that keep it from drying and cracking. The drums are made in wood and covered in animal skin. The bongo drum has several sections – shell, skin, lugs, bearing edge, tuning ring, center bridge or block.

These are the most common drums used around the world made famous by the Cuban big band music. These musicians are called bongoseros.
